CESM version for paleo

Hi, what version of CESM is recommended for pre-Quaternary simulations? I see the paleoCESM toolkit caters for CESM1.2, but that the LGM has been simulated with CESM2 - though with an unrealistic temperature change related to the high climate sensitivity of CESM2. From this thread it sounds like some modifications might be possible to correct for this, which perhaps can be gotten at by building with CAM5(?).

I'm just wondering what the latest recommendation is for people doing deep time paleo.

Actually I've just come across PaleoCalibr, a modified version of CESM2 with a more realistic ECS than vanilla CESM2 and so more appropriate for non-modern climates. https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/2021MS002776
