check_dim ERROR: mismatch of input after removing the land region

Dear all,
I'm running CESM1-CAM5, with -res f09_f09 -compset F_2000_CAM5. For removing a specific land region, I edited the file listed below:
1. USGS-gtopo30_0.9x1.25_remap_c051027.nc
2. domain.lnd.fv0.9x1.25_gx1v6.090309.nc
3. domain.camocn.0.9x1.25_gx1v6_090403.nc
4. surfdata_0.9x1.25_simyr2000_c110921.nc
But after running the model I meet up with the error in the clmi.BCN.2000-01-01_0.9x1.25_gx1v6_simyr2000_c100303.nc, which is the check_dim ERROR: mismatch of input dimension 20975 with expected value 20596 for variable gridcell.
I believe the removed land grid making this error. Please help me to overcome this error.

CESM1 is no longer supported, so we are unable to provide much help with this, but briefly, you need to interpolate CLM's initial conditions files. With newer model versions this can be done by setting use_init_interp = .true. in user_nl_clm; in older versions you need to run interpinic as described here https://www.cesm.ucar.edu/models/cesm1.0/clm/models/lnd/clm/doc/UsersGuide/x8461.html
