Hi, can I please confirm whether I need to spinup an I2000Clm50Sp compset? It seems to be pulling initial conditions from a run that I assume from the name was spunup (clmi.I2000Clm50BgcCrop.2011-01-01.1.9x2.5_gx1v7_gl4_simyr2000_c190312.nc).

The user guide says that a spinup period of ~50 years is necessary for satellite phenology. But this old post suggests that starting a validated compset with the provided initial conditions precludes the need for spinup. Is that still valid?

On an unrelated point, can someone tell me how I can get NPP/GPP written to my history files? I don't see a CLM5 history list anywhere.

Thanks.

If you are not changing anything in the model (just running out of the box), then the provided initial conditions are adequate and you don't need to do any spinup. If you are changing something (e.g., model parameters, code, etc), then we recommend a spinup to let the model equilibrate to a new state.
In SP mode, NPP isn't available, because there are no respiration terms computed. In SP mode, GPP or photosynthesis is available from FPSN.
