coldstart and final spinup

I was wondering why the CLM_FORCE_COLDSTART is set to "on" in the final step of the CN-spinup.

It is stated in the userguide that you should change the env_conf in the last spinup step like this:

xmlchange -file env_conf.xml -id CLM_FORCE_COLDSTART -val on

But the finidat-file is set to the restart file from the previous step (EXIT_SPINUP), will CLMCN use finidat or arbitrary conditions then?

You want to configure as if this were a cold start so that finidat will be left blank for you to fill manually. There is no automated way of filling finidat with the name of the restart file from the EXIT_SPINUP.
