Hi, I was recently running an I200BgcCropGs case where I replaced some variables in surfdata in pursuit of more refined output.

But when I last replaced some variables, it seemed that the crop activity was not going on, GPP in crop land seems no active, and I checked the lnd_in also showed that the crop pattern was turned on. Are there any other coupling requirements I didn't recognize in the variables I modified? Below I will attach some of the variables I modified and the output results.

Then, some comparison of vegetation variables between modified surfdata and original surfdata.

The PCT_CFT is simply resampled from the original raw data, and PCT_NAT_PFT modified as below.

As can be seen above, at the high value area of PCT_CROP, there is no temporal change of GPP, is there some crop switch I am not aware of ?
I really appreciate for any advice.

An update, I found that Oleson said that it will take few decades to come into equilibrium ( Accelerated spinup mode ), and my case setting is 20 years for spin up, I will try a longer spin-up.
After resetting spin-up time from 1960 to 2010, the GPP n crop land seems no change.

Another update!

I checked the technical note for crop (2.26. Crops and Irrigation — ctsm release-clm5.0 documentation), it said that planting can be determined by temperature and Day Of Year, thus I set a continue run for 1 year after 2000, and it generated GPP from crop land.

It might be the DOY reason, but I still have no idea about why the first year crop land didn't run in crop phenology.
Any discussion is welcomed, thanks.

If I remember correctly, the crop model tracks some accumulation variables that need to be at least a year long before the crop model can work correctly.
