Differences in simulated GPP between BGC and BgcCrop configurations

Dear CTSM developers,
I am studying GPP and would like to ask whether I should use the BGC or BgcCrop configuration for this purpose.

I found that, under otherwise identical model settings, BGC and BgcCrop produce small differences in simulated GPP. I would like to understand why these small differences occur and which configuration is more appropriate for GPP analysis.

Thank you very much.

Best regards,
Peng

Bgc runs with 16 pfts: The crops are prescribed as number 15 c3_crop and number 16 c3_irrigated and behave similar to other pfts, i.e. unmanaged by humans.
BgcCrop runs with 78 pfts: Numbers 17 to 78 are prognostic crops listed in src/main/pftconMod.F90 that behave according to the crop model.

You will find more info in the CLM documentation.
