Do we need to re spinup after modifying the parameters?

Dear all

We are using the CLM5.0 model to conduct a series of parameter sensitivity experiments.
But there are some questions in the process

After we modify the parameters, do we need to restart the cold start to make the model reach a new equilibrium and stable state before the final spinup?

Thanks all.

In general, you'll want to do some kind of spinup when changing parameters before analyzing results. The amount of spinup required will depend on the magnitude of the perturbation induced by the parameter change and the timescale of the output variables you are interested in.

We find in our group that at least 20 years is needed to spinup leaves, and much longer for carbon pools (possibly requiring accelerated spinup). If you have satellite phenology mode, then perhaps less time for spinup is needed.
