Error in accessing the link to obtain the MOM6-examples data set

I want to get the MOM6-examples data sets, but I can't access the URL given in the wiki "Installing data sets on another platform".
Even when I enter the following in the terminal, all I get is a message saying ‘Connection failed’.

> wget ftp://ftp.gfdl.noaa.gov/perm/Alistair.Adcroft/MOM6-testing/

The same problem occurs on both Mac and Linux. How can I solve this?
Thank you for reading.

This has been a difficult problem to diagnose, because none of us have been able to replicate the problem on our end. I can also download the files from home, so I don't believe it's a firewall issue. But I know that you are not the only person to have this problem.

I don't personally have much experience troubleshooting data transfer problems, but if wget has some kind of debug or verbose mode (wget --debug --verbose ?), then it might help to narrow down the connection issue.

Thank you for the advice!
When I tried adding the --debug option, the message “Releasing 0x00006000022dc420 (new refcount 1)” appeared.
What does this mean?

The error does not mean anything to me, so I probably won't be much help. You may need someone on your end to investigate the connection.

Are you downloading from outside of the US? There could be new security restrictions that we don't know about.

The FTP server has many problems, and is not a reliable method for downloading the data. But for now it's unfortunately our only option. These are big files, and we don't currently have the resources to serve them. But I will bring it up with others and see if they have any recommendations.
