Hi Jesse,Hi Yilin,
You can find the latest version ofconfig_machines.xml
in themachines
directory of the ccs_config_cesm repo, which can be found on Github here:

GitHub - ESMCI/ccs_config_cesm: CESM CIME Case Control System configuration files
CESM CIME Case Control System configuration files. Contribute to ESMCI/ccs_config_cesm development by creating an account on GitHub.github.com
or can be downloaded directly via the command:
Code:git clone https://github.com/ESMCI/ccs_config_cesm.git
It looks like there is still a perlmutter entry, so maybe that will help? I am also moving this thread to the Infrastructure forum, as they are the experts on porting and are thus likely to have a better understanding of what is needed to run on the perlmutter machine.
I hope that helps, and have a great day!
Jesse
I was running E3SM on Perlmutter and found error messages about the outdated packages in config_machines.xml. However, I did not know there was a newer config_machines.xml. Instead, I typed "module spider xxxx" and replaced the old packages with new ones that popped up.
My question is, "module spider xxxx" sometimes gives me several different versions available. I just randomly picked one out of them. Do different versions matter? The run script seems working fine and the job was submitted anyway.
Best regards,
CF
