We are having trouble completing the recommended exit spinup procedure for CLM 4.5 BGC. After we spinup for 1500 years with BGC_spinup -on and are satisfied with out model state's stability we try to follow the exit spinup procedure laid out in the user guide. However when we try running the exit procedure with BGC_spinup -off we get large jumps (50 fold increases) in our carbon pools from the interpolation at the start of the exit run case.
We have tried running the exit procedure with startup mode and hybrid mode and get the same jumps.
We have tried branch mode and we get
Opened existing file PUN_spinup.clm2.r.1501-01-01-00000.nc 131072
CNRest: taking SOM pools out of AD spinup mode
ENDRUN:
CNRest: error in entering/exiting spinup. this should occur only when nstep =
1
Which is the appropriate RUN_TYPE for the exit spinup procedure?
We are running a custom datm mode with 20 years/6 hourly custom forcing data. We have a stable spinup within a reasonable range of values for our site after 1500 years with BGC_spinup -on. If we create a new case and restart from the spinup restart file but put the BGC spinup flag on we no longer see a jump in the interpolation.
