Finite Volume CAM in CCSM

I would like to run CCSM with a 2D decomposition for FV CAM.
The default (1D) decomposition works but can use only upto 30 processors (lats per task >3) for the 2x2.5_gx1v3 resolution.
Can someone help?

Which version of the code are you using, what platform are you running on and how many processes due you
want to run on?
 
I would specifically like to know if it is OK to modify CAM namelist variables like npr_yz in CCSM? Modification of npr_yz led to surfrd error in land (CAM latitude and lsm input latitude has difference too large).
