Forcing temporal alignement

I am running CLM with offline forcing available every 3 hours. The forcing values are defined as the average of "the previous 3 hours".
Which timestamp should I give each value in time in the netcdf files, so that CLM is temprally properly aligned? Currently I have the timestamps at 1.5 / 4.5 ... hours, so inbetween...Thanks!
