how to calculate net surface heat flux

I found the following four atmospheric variables: FLNS (net longwave at the surface), FSNS (net shortwave at the surface), LHFLX (latent heat flux) and SHFLX (sensible heat flux). But I have no idea whether positive values means flux into the ocean or atmosphere. How should I calculate net surface heat flux into the ocean using the four variables?
Thank you!
