How to Combine Sunlit and Shaded Leaf Stomatal Conductance into Total Canopy Stomatal Conductance (gs)?

Dear Scientists,

In my CTSM SP-mode simulations, I have obtained separate stomatal conductance values for sunlit and shaded leaves. I would like to understand how to combine these two values into a single total canopy stomatal conductance (gs). Could you kindly clarify the method used in CTSM for combining the stomatal conductance values of sunlit and shaded leaves? Is it simply a matter of adding them together, or is there a specific calculation involved?

Thank you for your help!

Best regards,
Peng

@pengzhou I searched for "sunlit" in the clm Technote and found a few things that may help you:

First, I see in history that we output FSUN and FSHA, which are the sunlit and shaded canopy fractions. The other links that came up give details that I think you will find useful in your work.
Thank you very much for your help and for pointing me to the CLM technical note.
