Hi Yongxiao,if you want to run a transient model simulation with fixed aerosol emissions to the year 2000 or 1850, you can change the namelist (user_nl_cam) and set for example for year 2000 emissions, with this all the emissions are set to the year 2000, not only the aerosols.ext_frc_cycle_yr               = 2000srf_emis_cycle_yr              = 2000
ext_frc_type           = 'CYCLICAL'
srf_emis_type          = 'CYCLICAL'

Dear Yongxiao,surface and vertical emissions in CAM are for aerosols or for aerosol precursors (like SO2, or DMS). If you don't want to use the 'CYCLICAL' option to fix the emissions for a certain year, you will have to modify your transient emissions for only the specific species in a way that 2000 emissions are repeated for all the years.Simone
