Hi, I would like to perform an experiment of actual planet in CAM5.0, where in i would like to remove the influence of topography and land of African continent. In connection with it i have changed sgh, sgh30, phis, landfrac and landm_coslat in inputdata topo file (at location /inputdata/atm/cam/topo) and set to zero for African region. After the execution of experiment i have found that sgh, sgh30, phis were zero in the prescribed region except landfrac, which is not zero. In order to do this experiment what are the requisite changes i have to do and where should i change the code and which variables should i change, so that i could get exact result. Any help on this query will be highly appreciated.Thank you.

The landfrac variable in the atm topo file is not used.  CAM get's landfrac values from the coupler in its import state.  I believe you'll need to modify the surface datasets used by CLM to successfully remove a land mass.  It might help to post to the CLM forum.
