how to run CLM standalone in an unported machine

i am new to land surface modeling and i am trying to run CLM in standalone mode, but the steps that are provided in the clm userguide, namely create_newcase ask for a "-mach" argument. How to go about it. So my question is how to run CLM standalone in an unported machine. It would be great if you could tell me the steps to do it too.
