How to start FSDW from 1979-01-01

I am investigating the influence of emission in East Asia on troposphere ozone trend. I want to design an experiment from 1979 to 2015 by using CESM and the compest is FSDW. The GEOS5 ncdatas have been downloaded from https://www.earthsystemgrid.org/dataset/ucar.cgd.ccsm4.geos5.19x2.html. but the data only start from 2004-01-02. So I don't know how to start the simulation from 1997-01-01. I am looking forward to your reply. Thank you very much.

You will have to use MERRA data, those start in 1979. GEOS5 data are not available before 2004, Simone

Hi,tilmes, thank you very much. I have found the MERRA data here:  https://www.earthsystemgrid.org/dataset/ucar.cgd.ccsm4.merra.1.9x2.5.atm.forcing.6hourly_inst/file.html. But there are only offline meteorology data in the website and I don't know how to find the ncdata(initial atmospheric state dataset), because there are only the waccm_geos5_2x_88L_2005-01-01_c110419.nc. in website:https://svn-ccsm-inputdata.cgd.ucar.edu/trunk/inputdata/atm/waccm/ic/.

MERRA and GEOS5 have the same number of levels. You should be able to use the same ncdata file, Simone
