Hi all.
I have a question about updating a surface map. When we update the land use in a surface map (e.g. use a high-resolution replace the low-resolution one), some non-forests may be changed into forests. Under such circumstances, do we need to update the LAI, SAI, bottom height and top height in NATVEG as well?
Thank you.

If you are running in BGC mode then you don't have to worry about updating because they are prognostic variables. If you are running in SP (satellite phenology) mode then it will depend on the specific pfts you are changing. If there is already forest in a grid cell and you are simply increasing the amount, then there should be no problem. Even if there is no forest in that grid cell, you still may be ok. You'll have to look at the surface dataset to see where LAI, etc. is prescribed for each pft.

Thanks for your reply. It is clear.
