Is CAM5.3 ready to be used in fully coupled simulation?

hello,  We are planing to run high resolution fully coupled simulation with CESM1.2.2, in which CAM5.3 with the resolution of ne120 is used as the atmosphere component. I found on the webpage that it is not a scientifically validated conofiguration yet. I'm just wondering if there's any known issues with this configuration.  It is very costly to run the simulation at such high resolution, so I think it may not be feasible to do a long spin-up. Could you give me some suggestions on minimizing the model bias for this configuration? Thanks in advance,Hui

CESM1.2.2 is not scientifically validated for ne120. It means you would need to tune the model to achieve TOA radiative balance.The CCR group have done some tuning and you may try to contact them to see if they can share the tuning. 
 
Hi Hannay, Thank you for your suggestions. I have no experimence about model tuning, and I would appreciate it very much if you could help with the following qustions:1. Is it reasonable to directly tune the model under the present-day climate (B_2000)?  Most of the other experiments used B_1850 climate conditions, in which tuning parameters are chosen to obtain ~0W TOA radiative balance. Our simulation will be conducted under the present-day climate, under which condition the TOA radiation should be greater than 0.  I'm not sure if we could tune the model directly using the current-day condition. 2. I'm guessing tuning parameters would depend on the model version, coupling strategy and resolution. We couldn't find any previous experiment using the exact same model configurations as ours, does this mean that we would still need to tune the model by ourselves? 3. I'm not sure how tuning parameters are chosen. It looks like different modeling groups would have different choices. Is there any documentation on CESM tuning? Thank you very much,Hui
