Issue downloading MERRA files during testing

I am currently verifying the porting of CESM2 on our local tier2 machine, but I stumbled into an odd error:

Test: SMS_Ld1.f19_f19_mg16.FXSD.hydra_gnu.cam-outfrq1d

Error: ERROR: GETFIL: FAILED to get /gpfs/projects/climate/cesm/inputdata/atm/cam/met/MERRA/2000/MERRA_19x2_20000102.nc

Which is very odd because I didnt get this error for any of the other tests, I tried manually placing these MERRA files in the correct location and I relaunched the test it passed, meaning that appearantly there is some issue (within this test or elsewhere) that impedes from downloading these MERRA files.

Hopefully you guys will be able to figure it out!

What exact code version are you using?

The input data repository does not include MERRA_19x2_20000102.nc. We have not uploaded more than 1 day of the MERRA data due to the large volume a longer time series would require. It appears that you have discovered how to manually obtain the full MERRA data timeseries (or long enough for your needs). If you need more info on how to obtain the MERRA files please contact Simone Tilmes (tilmes@ucar.edu).

@fvitt it looks like that file IS in the repository:

https://svn-ccsm-inputdata.cgd.ucar.edu/trunk/inputdata/atm/cam/met/MERRA/2000/

So I'm not sure why this error is occurring.

I'm using CESM 2.0.1 but I have no clue neither, does this mean the test might be buggy?

I do think this is a real issue. I just opened Dynamic generation of met_data_file names prevents check_input_data from downloading needed data · Issue #53 · ESCOMP/CAM
