On Tuesday 24 October 2023 @ 5pm MT the forums will be in read only mode in preparation for the downtime. On Wednesday 25 October 2023 @ 5am MT, this website will be down for maintenance and expected to return online later in the morning.

I think I already know the answer to this but just to be sure I will ask:  Is it possible to run the MPAS dycore in a WACCM configuration?  My guess is no but maybe I'm mistaken.Thanks!Mark Branson

I can tell you for sure that it's not possible from the CAM development trunk, because MPAS is not on the trunk.  There have been various efforts to get MPAS working in CAM but no implementation so far has been solid enough for inclusion on the trunk.  I don't know whether any WACCM folks are looking at this on their own, but my guess would be no.

We are not currently working on MPAS with WACCM. We are pursuing regional refinement using the Spectral Element dycore with WACCM.
