Near-surface sulfuric acid distribution

I recently used CESM2.2.0 to simulate global near-surface gaseous sulfuric-acid concentrations. The results look wrong: over East and South Asia the modeled near-surface gaseous H₂SO₄ mixing ratios are extremely low. I made no other modifications—just ran the standard workflow.

Hi Wenjia,

- How are you converting units of model output to ppt? (Using CAM-chem Output - CAM-Chem - wiki.ucar.edu)
- Do you have observations to compare with to quantify the model low bias?
- Which anthropogenic emission inventory are you using?
- What time period are you looking at?

Hi Rebecca, thank you very much for your reply. I have converted the units to ppt; the output is the June 2010 monthly-mean gaseous sulfuric acid data. The anthropogenic emissions inventory used is CEDS, and I’ve verified that it is correct. However, when I compare my results with published data, the differences are extremely large.

Hi Rebecca, this paper is "Spatial and temporal variations of new particle formation in EastAsia using an NPF-explicit WRF-chem model: North-southcontrast in new particle formation frequency". Although WRF-Chem model was used in this paper, I think that the H2SO4 distribution are consistent.
