Pause/resume in CESM

Hi,

I'm trying to setup a daily pause/resume CESM run for sesp component.
The PAUSE_OPTION=nday, PAUSE_N=1 and PAUSE_ACTIVE_*=true are all set. But only cpl output daily restart files before st_archive.
I would like to know is it normal?
I expect every prognostic component write their own restarts so that sesp can access.

The version info is attached.

Hi,

I'm sorry the behavior you ran into was unexpected.
First off, the SESP component is a stub -- it is designed to not do anything (as are all CESM stub components). Do you mean DESP (the Data ESP component)?
Second, the CESM 2.1 active components do not have the pause signal implemented*, you have to separately configure restart frequencies to match your pause frequency.
The PAUSE_ACTIVE flag is currently used in the PRE test (see description of this test in the CIME manual).

--Steve

*Implementation of pause / resume in CESM active components is still in development.

Thanks for reply.

Seems it is too early to test the pause/resume feature. I will try it after it done.

Yes you are right. The SESP does not do anything. It makes SESP a perfect place to check when will ESP run and with what kind of arguments by insert codes.
I found it will be run every 30 model minutes if no PAUSE_N, PAUSE_OPTION set. However the EClock alarm seems does not work yet.

Thanks again.
