When I ran the case of the simulation of 165Ma with cesm-dt2.0, this error came and I haven't seen this before.

Hi! Not sure if you are still running into this issue. Based on my experience, the most likely reason is that an equatorial landmass now covers one or more of the present-day Nino domains in the present-day tropical Pacific. Modifying tavg.F90 in the pop2 source code to either eliminate statistics over Nino boxes or move them elsewhere solves this issue.
