Prescribed SST

Dear all I have a problem understanding how prescribed sst works. I changed the sst field(sst anomaly over the nino 3.4 region) and has successfully made the runs. The run is 50 years long. In the output I still see the SST anomalies which I don't understand why? Why don't the sst anomaly vanish after some time of the run? Or is the model reading the prescribed sst every year during the run?Can you please explain thanksNetsanet

When you prescribe the SST, it means the model will read the values of the SST in the dataset you use. Even after 50 years, the model will continue to read the SST from your dataset. SO, you will always see the anomaly.

Dear Hannay
Thank you for the reply. From my limited Regional Modeling experience, I know there are some initial and boundary condition files that model uses to start. But once it starts it won't use the IC and BC files. I thought the prescribed SST(though I know the prescribed runs use DOCN) has the same role here? Am I wrong? Can you please explain to me the difference in this case,? And also the difference with fully coupled runs?best regardsNetsanet
