Problem in creating surface dataset (writing landuse_timeseries file) for RCP scenarios in CLM5 (CESM2.1.0)

Dear all,

I hope you are doing well.

I am trying to create a surface dataset for the RCP scenarios. I successfully created for SSP5-8.5, however for other cases (SSP1-2.6, SSP2-4.5, SSP4-6.0), when I run the below code it again makes the surface data for SSP5-8.5 scenario. It seems like while creating the time-series text file "landuse_timeseries_SSP1-2.6_16pfts_Irrig_CMIP6_simyr2000-2100.txt", the program doesn't pick the SSP1-2.6 option in the command line. Secondly, I also tried to fix the value in mksurfdata.pl file, but the same result. It might be thought that somewhere in the creation of the time-series file, the SSP5-8.5 was fixed for all the cases, I tried to search that, but could not find the code for creating the landuse time-series text file.
All the required time-series files and folders for all the 4 scenarios above mentioned are located in the input data folder, so there is no issue related to missing data.

./mksurfdata.pl -r usrspec -usr_gname $PTNAME -usr_gdate $CDATE -y "2000-2100" -ssp_rcp "SSP1-2.6"

Please find the attached landuse time-series text file for the SSP1-2.6 scenario, and other namelist and logfiles.

I tried this with CESM2.1.2 and it seemed to work properly. I got SSP126 files in the landuse time-series text file. I wonder if there was a bug fix between CESM2.1.0 and CESM2.1.2. You could try CESM2.1.2.

Right. Thanks for your reply. I will try CESM2.1.2.
I am using CESM 2.1.0 on the lab cluster, the porting of CESM is a very challenging task.
Please also guide if there is any other way to fix the bug.

I reproduced your problem with CESM2.1.0. At the moment I'm not quite sure what has been fixed in CESM2.1.2, but you could clone CESM2.1.2 and just create your datasets using that perhaps. I will look into it further.
