Problems with the output variable ALT

Hi all, I have a question about the ALT(current depth of thaw ) simulation. I tried using I2000Clm50SpGs and I2000Clm50BgcCruGs to simulate ALT at Shiquanhe site . The forcing is the GSWP3v1 data with 1980-1999 years.

The results of soil temperature in the last year after 300 years spinup are shown in the following figure. But the ALT are always 41.9984, which is the maxmum soil deth. So what is the problem? How do I choose compsets.

The calculation for ALT is at every time step and starts from the base of the soil column and searches upwards for first thawed layer. The first thawed layer in your case seems always to be the lowest layer, hence ALT=41.9984. I don't know where your site is but do you expect permafrost there? If so, maybe the GSWP3V1 forcing isn't appropriate for your site.
