Has you run successfully restarted at least once before? There were some problems with the glade file system yesterday. From the Notifier:

"One of the GLADE scratch storage servers went offline around noon today due to a memory error. CISL engineers initiated the failover process to another server, but this process has encountered unexpected difficulties and is taking longer than anticipated. In the meantime, users should expect Lustre errors or hangs when accessing the scratch file system. We will send out an update once service is restored."

Thank you Dr. Oleson! Apparently It has something to do with the history namelist variables in my user_nl_clm. It works now after I commented (hist_empty_htapes = .true.).

my user_nl_clm has the following:

! hist_empty_htapes = .true.
hist_fincl2 = 'FIRA', 'FSA', 'FSDS', 'FSR', ...
hist_nhtfrq(2) = -24
hist_mfilt(2) = 365

Good to know, thanks. I guess this means that we always need a primary (h0) history file.
