Hello everyone,

I have checked these two threads about the soil carbon (Soil organic carbon storage at different soil depths & question: SOILC_vr) And I still have a question about it:

If you want to check the amount of Carbon in soil, which one of these variables should you use?

SOIL1C
SOIL1C_vr
SOILC_CHANGE
TOTSOMC
TOTSOMC_1m

Also, the definitions of SOIL1C, SOIL2C, and SOIL3 are not there in the documentation or anywhere; it says SOIL1C: "SOIL1C" . What do those numbers 1,2, and 3 represent?

I want to check the amount of soil carbon at the end of my simulation, but things are not clear for me with these variables.
Thank you for your support.

TOTSOMC is the total in soil.
SOIL1C, SOIL2C, SOIL3C are soil carbon in different pools that have, for example, different turnover times.

Thank you Keith for your response.
Good to know that.

So by different pools and different turnover times, you mean, for instance, grasslands, croplands, etc?

How can we make sure which one is for which type of pool? or is that even necessary?
