standard alone CLM3: ADD_FLD1D error

I tried to run standard alone clm3 on SUN workstation. Not a bit of code and data was changed from the standard clm3 package. It compiled OK, but stopped with error message:

ADD_FLD1D error: currently only an optional xy grid type of [rof] is accepted

I checked the code, the error message occured in subroutine add_fld1d (histFileMod.F90).

It seems somewhat a very strange error since nothing was change. Any help/clue to solve the problem. THX.

What was your namelist input?
Also - have you tried to run this on any other platform.
We currently do not support running stand-alone clm3
on suns.

lnd.stdin is the standard one from clm3 package. nothing was changed. No other machine/platform was available to try. Any suggestions that I could try go around the I/O problem? THX
