Sulfate burden and deposition in CAM6

Hi, I am running the Fclimo2000 in CESM2.1.3 and some outputs of sulfate are confusing for me.

1. There are so4_a1, so4_a2, so4_a3, so4_c1, so4_c2, so4_c3, so what the meaning of so4_c1, so4_c2, so4_c3 (aerosol in cloud water or CCN)? If I want to calculate the sulfate burden, should I sum all of them (so4_a and so4_c) up or only add so4_a?

2. For sulfur deposition, there are DF_SO2, WD_SO2, so4_a1DDF, and so4_a1SFWET. Do DF_SO2 and WD_SO2 also represent SO2 deposition at surface? If I want to calculate sulfur deposition, is the sum of DF_SO2, WD_SO2, so4_a1DDF, so4_a1SFWET, so4_a2DDF, so4_a2SFWET, so4_a3DDF, so4_a3SFWET?

Thanks for answering!

Hi Fangxuan, I'm forwarding to the CAM-chem forum for further clarification. DF_SO2 and WD_SO2 represent SO2 dry and wet deposition at the surface; the so4_* fields represent sulfate aerosol. So if you are looking for total sulfur deposition (SO2 plus sulfate) I believe you would need to include both.
