Surface data and LAI

Hello everyone,

I plan to modify the leaf area index (LAI) with GIMMS from 1982 to 2020 within the CLM for a particular region and then compare these results to a control case. Could you guide me on how to generate or where to get surface data for CLM? The case is FHIST, and the resolution is 0.5x0.5.

I appreciate any help you can provide.

If you set up an FHIST case, you'll generate a lnd_in file that contains an "fsurdat" namelist item. On the file specified by fsurdat, there will be a MONTHLY_LAI variable that contains leaf area index for each pft that you can modify.

Dear Oleson, thank you for your response and guidance.

I am currently conducting trials using the CESM2.1.5 FHIST compset (HIST_CAM60_CLM50%SP_CICE%PRES_DOCN%DOM_MOSART_CISM2%NOEVOLVE_SWAV) with a resolution of f05_f05_mg17. I have checked the input dataset for surface and land use data from the NCAR archive (Revision 65876: /trunk/inputdata/lnd/clm2/surfdata_map). I found the land use time series dataset (landuse.timeseries_0.47x0.63_hist_16pfts_Irrig_CMIP6_simyr1850-2015_c171025.nc) but could not locate the corresponding surface dataset.

Is there any way I can download or find the surface dataset with an f05_f05_mg17 resolution?
