The persistence of soil moisture

Hello everyone, I am currently conducting a study on the persistence of soil moisture and its effects. My idea is to modify the soil moisture for a certain month and see how it affects the atmosphere in the following months. I am currently using F2000climo, and I also tried using use_soil_moisture_streams in clm, but it seems that it cannot target just one month, right? How should I conduct my experiment if I want to proceed?

One possibility might be to run for one month with prescribed soil moisture, and then do a hybrid run with prescribed soil moisture off, initialized from the end of the one month run.
