Treatment of Antarctica in CESM1

I am writing a paper using a regional ocean model forced by CESM1 output (LENS and similar). Am I correct that CESM1 handles snowfall over Antarctica by setting a maximum snow depth, and then immediately rerouting any additional snow into the nearest ocean cell? I believe this is how CMIP models generally handle Antarctica, but I cannot find any reference to it in the CESM1 literature.
