vertical fire emission data in cam5

Hi all, I am using cam5 to simulate the AOD of fire emissions and  the fire emission data I got just have one layer but I find the emission data (Elevated number emissions) the model used like: ar5_mam3_num_a1_elev_1850-2005_c090804.nc has 13 vertical layers and I wonder how I can get this 13 layer data by extrapolating my  emission data with only one layer. Thanks in advance!

Producing the vertical distribution of fire emissions from a one layer field requires the knowlege on the altitude distribution depending on factors like pant function type and region. We use a program that takes those information into account based on observed fire injection heights, but this is not simple. You may use the already processed fire emissions that we have produced. What fire emissions are you using?  Regards, Simone

Hi, Simone, I am using GFED3 currently. I want to simulate the AOD induced by fire emissions based on different emission factors. I think the already processed fire emissions in the model is also based on GFED, but I want to do a series of experiments with different emissions Thanks,Peng
