Why the LAI from clm5-BGC and MODIS differ so much

Hi, all,

I use the clm5.0 BGC mode to simulate LAI, when I compare it with MODIS LAI (MYD15A2H, multi-year mean),

I find large difference between them.... not sure if it is normal or abnormal...

The results you get will depend on many things, in particular, the spatial resolution, the atmospheric forcing, parameter settings and model configuration, initial conditions, etc. You could compare these results to some diagnostics we've posted for 1deg CLM5 out of the box (along with other model versions) here:


You could look at ILAMB results for example:


Results for CLM5 forced by GSWP3 are here:


For example, CLM5 leaf area index compared to MODIS is here:
