Hello everyone, I am trying to run an experiment with CESM 1.2.2 using the LW-off option, but I am having trouble turning it off. I attempted to modify some .f90 files (following), but it seems not to work.
Could anyone give me guidance on how to properly disable the longwave radiation in this CESM version?Thankyou!

cloud_rad_props.F90
430
cld_abs_od(:,1:ncol,:) = liq_tau_abs_od(:,1:ncol,:) + ice_tau_abs_od(:,1:ncol,:)
liq_tau_abs_od(:,1:ncol,:) = 0._r8
ice_tau_abs_od(:,1:ncol,:) = 0._r8
cld_abs_od(:,1:ncol,:) = 0._r8

oldcloud.F90
385
parameter (kabsl = 0._r8) !0.090361_r8

428
kabs = 0._r8 !kabsl*(1._r8-ficemr(i,k)) + kabsi*ficemr(i,k)

430
cldtau(i,k) = 0._r8 !kabs*cwp(i,k)

mcica_subcol_gen_lw.f90
122
cldfmcl(:,:,:) = 0._r8
ciwpmcl(:,:,:) = 0._r8
clwpmcl(:,:,:) = 0._r8
taucmcl(:,:,:) = 0._r8

Thanks for writing, Yu-Tong. At this time, CESM1.2 and iCESM1.2 are only supported for deep time paleoclimate and water isotope applications, respectively. Are you using the model for one of those purposes? If so, I will direct this to the appropriate forum. If not, I apologize that we are no longer able to provide support for CESM1.2; we encourage you to update to the CESM2 series. See Support Policy | Community Earth System Model for support details.

Thank you very much for your helpful clarification and for taking the time to explain the current support policy. My apologies for the delayed response, as I needed some time to confirm this with my advisor.
After discussing this with my advisor, we have decided to use an alternative model for our study, so we will not proceed with CESM1.2 at this time.
Thank you again for your assistance and guidance!

Hello, I also encountered a problem when running branch with CESM1.2.2 for paleoclimate research:
./cesm_setup
Macros script already created ... skipping
Creating batch script F1850W.run
Locking file env_mach_pes.xml
Running preview_namelist script
The infile is /work/home/wang/cesm/scratch1.2.2/F1850W/Buildconf/cplconf/cesm_namelist.
ERROR (Build::Namelist::_parse_next): A Fortran 90 constant was expected for a namelist, but instead received: bnd_topo = '/work/home/wang/cesm/inputtopo/bnd_topo_0.9x1.25_remap.gh30.200206.nc'

ERROR: cam.buildnml.csh failed
ERROR: /work/home/wang/cesm/scratch1.2.2/F1850W/preview_namelists failed: 25344

How can I solve this? Please provide a solution. Thank you very much.
