CESM2.1 BHIST restart files

I would like to download a set of restart files for the BHIST compset f19_g17 grid for either 2000 or 2010?

I would like to run some simple tests simulating climate around 2000 without having to run 150+ years from 1850.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am not affiliated with a US university.

Do you have an NCAR account?

Not a problem.

Please retrieve

ftp://ftp.cgd.ucar.edu/pub/strandwg/b.e21.BHIST.f19_g17.CMIP6-historical-2deg.002.rest.2010-01-01-00000.tar

That ftp space is very small and aggressively scrubbed.

Hi Gary,
I would like to download a set of restart files for the BHIST compset f19_g17 grid for 1981, but I do not have an NCAR account, can you help me? Thank you very much.

Hi @strandwg, I'm also interested in restart files for ~1980 from a BHIST run, but at f09_g17 resolution. Just so I don't have to start a BHIST from 1850. I see this set of restart files in the data trunk. Would these be appropriate? I couldn't find any more details on the internet about this run.

That run is a CESM2.0 development run, and not released. I would not use it.

I have restarts for 1980 for the finite volume 2 degree resolution version of CAM for three different runs.

I have restarts for 1980 from the finite volume 1 degree version of CAM for nine different BHIST runs. Are you particular?

Hi @strandwg, thanks very much for your help. I'm not very particular but I guess if these are "pertlim" runs then the first run will be best.

The 9 CESM2 FV1 BHIST runs aren't pertlim, but rather have different ICs from the 1850 control:

casename 1850 branch
b.e21.BHIST.f09_g17.CMIP6-historical.001 0601
b.e21.BHIST.f09_g17.CMIP6-historical.002 0631
b.e21.BHIST.f09_g17.CMIP6-historical.003 0661
b.e21.BHIST.f09_g17.CMIP6-historical.004 0501
b.e21.BHIST.f09_g17.CMIP6-historical.005 0691
b.e21.BHIST.f09_g17.CMIP6-historical.006 0721
b.e21.BHIST.f09_g17.CMIP6-historical.007 0751
b.e21.BHIST.f09_g17.CMIP6-historical.008 0781
b.e21.BHIST.f09_g17.CMIP6-historical.009 0811

Sorry for intervene in this thread. Some time ago (Decembre 5 2021) I post a thread related with the results I got using cesm2.1
with a compset BHIST f09_g17 using as the initial condition the case b.e20.BHIST.f09_g17.20thC.297_01_v2. At the view of the comment of Gary Strand "That run is a CESM2.0 development run, and not released. I would not use it.", I ask my self if the cause of my too cold results could come from the fact that the initial file I have been using is not the correct one.

Thanks

Agustin

Following with my just posted message I have also used the initial case "b.e21.BHIST.f09_g17.CMIP6-historical.001" with similar results as those given using the mentioned case in my post: Too low temperature.

@agustin@unex_es, have you validated your install? That's the only thing that comes to my mind. But when I manage to start a run from these restarts I'll certainly post if I get the same problem.
