Hello ,everyone:
I am planning to conduct volcanic forcing experiments (e.g. 1815Tambora or 1991Pinatubo) with CESM2.1.3-CAM6 to study the influence of a large eruption on climate,. Hoewvwr, I am not sure how to add the needed volcanic forcing file, via ext_frc_specifier or prescribed_volcaero_nl? And are there any other files that need to be modified?

Moving this to our CAM-CHEM forum in the hopes that they can answer your question

You can use either CAM or WACCM for your work, depending on what you are interested in. Are you planning to run two model simulations with and without the volcanic aerosols? If so, you can either modify the prescribed volcanoes namelist variable for CAM, or if you are interested in interaction on chemistry and dynamics, you would use WACCMma or WACCM and modify the ext_frc_specifier.

Thank you very much, yes, I am ready to run two model simulations with and without volcanic aerosols.
