On Tuesday 24 October 2023 @ 5pm MT the forums will be in read only mode in preparation for the downtime. On Wednesday 25 October 2023 @ 5am MT, this website will be down for maintenance and expected to return online later in the morning.

How to run CTSM offline on my own computer?

To whom it may concern,

Currently, I can run ctsm on the ncar platform in four steps,

(1) create a new case.
(2) Run case.setup
(3) Create an executable file
(4) Submit your run to the batch queue,

but I would like to be able to run ctsm offline on my own computer, is there a tutorial for this? Has anyone done any work on this? Thank you for your help.

Well, I think running CESM/CTSM in a container might be what you are looking for. I'm not that familiar with this but see this post on the containerized CESM Forum:


I'm not sure how up to date the instructions are, but you could post in that Forum if you run into problems.
As far as CTSM tutorials, see this for possibly useful information:
