Issue about using AMWG Diagnostics Package

Dear all,I'm trying to use the AMWG Diagnostics Package with my CAM4-Chem simulation result. I have modified the user settings in the C-shell script but get the errors like below when execution:=================================================DETERMINE ATTRIBUTES FOR HISTORY FILEScat: xxxxxxx/attributes/test_rootname: No such file or directorycat: xxxxxxx/attributes/test_grid: No such file or directorycat: xxxxxxx/attributes/test_res: No such file or directorycat: xxxxxxx/attributes/test_var_list: No such file or directorycat: xxxxxxx/attributes/test_non_time_var_list: No such file or directoryTEST CASE ATTRIBUTES  test_rootname =  test_grid =  test_res_in =  test_res_in =cat: xxxxxxx/attributes/cntl_rootname: No such file or directorycat: xxxxxxx/attributes/cntl_grid: No such file or directorycat: xxxxxxx/attributes/cntl_res: No such file or directorycat: xxxxxxx/attributes/cntl_var_list: No such file or directorycat: xxxxxxx/attributes/cntl_non_time_var_list: No such file or directoryCNTL CASE ATTRIBUTES  cntl_rootname =  cntl_grid =  cntl_res_in =SWIFT: 1CHECKING FOR TEST CLIMO FILESERROR: xxxxxxx/atm/hist/BMOZ_01_climo.nc NOT FOUND====================================================== I found a previous link (https://bb.cgd.ucar.edu/amwg-diags-cam3) and it suggested there might be potential compatiblity issue. But I have tried different versions from the repository and none of them work. In addition, there is no folder in my CAM-CHEM output named "attributes" and files like "test_rootname" and "test_grid". There is no output like "xxxx_climo.nc" as well. Do I misunderstand anything here and how can I avoid the errors above? Any suggestion will be of help. Thank you. Jian

THe AMWG is not finding your files. Please check that you correctly set
test_path_history  andcntl_path_history These should be the directory where your files are.

Dear hannay,Thanks for your reply. I check the test_path_history and cntl_path_history, and the CAM-CHEM monthly output like "0001-01.nc" is under that path. There is no folder like "attributes" and files like "test_rootname" under the CESM directory. Are these the files AMWG looking for? Where should I suppose to get them? Thank you very much. Jian

The files "attributes", "test_rootname" are created running if the diagnsotics if the package finds the history files. If the package doesn't find the files, you will get an error like the one you have and the files will not be created. In your case: For some reasons, the package seems not to be able to find the files. The things I can think about is:- the path is incorrect (make sure you have the symbol "/" at the end of the path, othrwise, it will not work)
- the years you specify to compute the climos are not available
- there is a mismatch between casename you specify in the package and the name of your files.

Dear hannay,Thanks for your detailed reply.(1) I follow the instruction in the C-shell script and "/" is added at the end of test_path and cntl_path. But the same errors show up.(2) For the years, I run my simulation from 2001, so should I set "test_first_yr" and "cntl_first_yr" as 2001? Also, there is no output files from CAM-CHEM named "xxxx_climo.nc". Is it generated by the AMWG package or should I turn on something during the CAM-CHEM running?(3) I have renamed the CAM-CHEM output files like "0001-01.nc", "0001-02.nc", etc, and I specify the "test_casename" and "cntl_casename" as "0001". Should that be correct? Thank you very much for your help.Jian
