Questions about canopy bottom height in CLM5.0

What is the definition of the canopy bottom height in CLM 5.0? It seems to be unclear in the tech note.
Is there a way (using somewhat function) to get the canopy bottom height data from the canopy top height data?

With SP (Specified Phenology) mode or with BGC mode? With SP mode it comes from the surface dataset which includes canopy bottom and top.
