In particular, I think you could look at the SLIM code how the albedo interfaces with the clm driver code.
Thanks for sharing oleson. But how to apply SLIM to CESM2? I have done some attempts have been fruitless, and I did not find any way to refer to the wiki. I hope to get your answer

I think that SLIM appears in CESM2.3beta10 and possibly CESM2.3beta16. It is not a supported model at this time.

My understanding of @oleson's suggestion is that you look at the SLIM code for guidance, but not to try running it.
