Dear @strandwg, I also want some restart files of BHIST simulations of CESM2.2 (if not possible, CESM2.1 also works). I may need the year 1980 and I have a NCAR account. Could you please share with me the directory of these files?

Cheers,
Yi

Restarts from all CMIP6 runs are available on campaign storage (visible only from casper, not cheyenne) at

/glade/campaign/collections/cmip/CMIP6/restarts

Hi @strandwg , I would like to make some high resolution simulations. Do you have BHIST restart files with resolution of f10_g37?
Thank you very much!

Jay

"f10_g37" isn't a known resolution. Do you mean f09 (finite volume ~1 degree) coupled with gx1 ocean (~1 degree)?

I am sorry I made a mistake. It should be a "coarse" resolution. I found this resolution when I used "./query_config --grid". This resolution is described as atm:10*15, lnd: 10*15, ocnice: gx3v7; mask is gx3v7.

I'm not aware of any runs done with CESM2 at that low resolution, so we have no restarts. Sorry.

There aren't any 2005 restarts from any of the CMIP6 CAM6 BHIST runs. These are the available restarts:

These two restart sets are available via ftp://ftp.cgd.ucar.edu/pub/strandwg

Dear strandwg,
I want to run the compset GIAF_JRA (the res is TL319_g17), but I find it takes a lot of computing resources and time to run it from the default initial field due to spin-up. Do you have restart fields for this case, so that I can run it in "hybrid" or "branch" type to avoid having to spin up for a long time? I want to achieve stability in GIAF_JRA's last forced cycle in the restart file at 1980. Could you please share the data with your FTP link?

Best,
Qiushi

The only simulation close to what you want is g.e21.GOMIPECOIAF_JRA.TL319_g17.CMIP6-omip2.001 however there is no year 1980 in the restart set, just the following years:

0016 0031 0046 0062 0077 0092
0107 0123 0138 0142 0143 0153 0168 0184 0199
0214 0229 0245 0260 0275 0290

0306 0307 0308 0309

Thank you for your reply.
According to relevant information, I learned that the simulation length is 366 years as realized by repeating six cycles of the 61-year (1958-2018), so the 0306-0366 model years you give corresponds to the last cycle. I want the restart files in the last forced cycle that was forced by JRA55 in 1980, which should correspond to the model year 0328, could you please share the data with your FTP link? By the way, do I run with these restart files in a "hybrid" or "branch" way? Or does it work either way?

The restart for 0328-01-01 is at

ftp://ftp.cgd.ucar.edu/pub/strandwg/g.e21.GOMIPECOIAF_JRA.TL319_g17.CMIP6-omip2.001.rest.0328-01-01-00000.tar

I believe a branch run is what you want, not a hybrid, but I'm not an expert on running the model.

Hi Gary!

I want to run the compset BSSP585cmip6 (the res is f09_g17) with 'BGC%BPRP'. I think I need the 2015 BHIST_BPRP restart files. Do you have such restart files?

Best,

Jay

I have a 2020 restart from b.e21.BSSP585_BPRPcmip6.f09_g17.CMIP6-esm-ssp585.001; will that suffice?

It is ok! I think I can use it in my experiment.

Please retrieve
